3 Simple Practices To Build A Relationship With Your Body

Living in the head

The mind is constantly active from one thoughts to the other.

Most often, we only tend to our body when there is tensions or pain in the body.

Unless, you tune your attention to feel your body sensations intentionally.

Determine if you are interoceptive or exteroceptive

  • Interoceptive –
    • A sensitivity to a stimuli from inside of your body – heartbeat.
      • If you are interoceptive, you are invited to tune to stimuli outside of your body.
  • Exteroceptive –
    • A sensitivity to a stimuli from outside of your body – sound from outside.
      • If you are exteroceptive, you are invited to tune to stimuli inside of your body.

Here are the 3 simple exercises

to start building relationship with your body:

  • Notice your surroundings & your body with your 5 senses

See, listen, touch, smell, taste what is around you.

Observe your body from head to toe.

Gently touch it part by part.

  • Feel your body sensations at the present moment

At this given moment, place your hand gently from the head

swiping slowly through the face to the neck and down to the feet.

Pay more attention to the parts that are in tension.

  • Start with something you love – stretch, draw, walk.

Do something with your body

starting with what you enjoy doing.

Be present with the body by limiting other stimuli.

Something To Experiment

Close or open your eyes,

listen to a music of your choice,

observe how your body reacts or responds to it.

Allow it to be as it is – to move or stay still.

Self Awareness

“Self awareness is the ability to pay attention to ourselves, to feel our sensations, emotions and movements in the present moment, without the influence of judgments thoughts.” – Allen Fogel

Pause & Observe

Pause and test your awareness level from time to time.

Record your movement & Witness it

Enjoy taking the first few steps to build relationship with your body.
